Program Description:
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Education and Training career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Education and Training career cluster.
The content includes but is not limited to organizational leadership, financial management, legal obligations and responsibilities, educational programming, marketing strategies, assessment, monitoring practices, observations, referrals and collaboration of programs with families and community resources. Child Care Center Operations prepares students to become Center Directors. Completion of the class is required for the foundational level of the state mandated Child Care Director’s Credential. The course is offered to Early Childhood Education teachers, owners, and operators.
Students who complete this course will earn a Childcare Center Director Certificate and 4.5 continuing education units.
Scholarship opportunities available through The Florida Children’s Forum T.E.A.C.H. program.
Licensure/Certification:
A certificate of completion is awarded to a student upon successful completion of all program requirements.

Program Description:
The Early Childhood Education program prepares students to earn a Florida Department of Education Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC). Instruction includes learning activities provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment and materials appropriate to program content. Activities provide instruction in the use of manipulative equipment, language development, creative art, music, science, and dramatic play, developmentally appropriate practices, brain research, classroom management and Child Development Associate (CDA) competencies. Completion meets the requirements for the Florida Staff Credential mandated by the Department of Children and Families. Through an agreement with the Department of Children and Families students who complete this program will be awarded nine (9) college credits toward an associate degree in Early Childhood Education.
Students must be employed in the field to be eligible for this program.
Instruction includes learning activities that provides students with the ability to:
Plan a safe, healthy, learning environment for, Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers.
Advance children’s physical and intellectual development;
Positively support children’s social and emotional development;
Establish productive relationships with families;
Manage effective program operation;
Maintain a commitment to professionalism;
Observe and record children’s behavior; and utilize principles of child development and learning.
Childcare Development Specialist Renewal Course (CDA Renewal):
This 45-hour course is for the preschool teacher who needs a higher level of training to renew her/his CDA Credential. The teacher will receive 4.5 C.E.U.'s.
This class includes a higher level of training for the teacher in the following areas Personality training; brain development; review of the DCF Standards; bullying; character development; managing behavior, autism and special needs; curriculum lesson plans and classroom Organization.
Courses are scheduled every 4 months. Classes are 5-Saturdays from 8:30am-5:30pm.
Cost $280.00-Payable by check or money order (made out to Flagler County Schools), Visa or MasterCard before course begins.
Scholarships may be available through The Florida Children's Forum, T.E.A.C.H. Call toll free: (877)-FL-TEACH.
Director Credential Renewal / Advanced Director Renewal:
This is a 45-hour course for the Director who needs a higher level of training to renew her/his Florida Director Credential. The director will receive 4.5. C.E.U.'s.
This class includes a higher level of training for directors and anyone renewing their Florida Director Credential. This class includes a higher level of training for directors in the following areas: Inclusion, asthma, cultural diversity, sexual harassment in the workplace, childhood nutrition, homeless children, domestic violence, obesity in children, labor laws, quality extended day, autism, grief in children, diabetes-nutrition, ADHD and family involvement.
Courses are scheduled every 4 months. Classes are 5-Saturdays from 8:30am-5:30pm.
